Can be geared towards damage (fire coating for extra damage, damage support for flat 20% increase to any and all kinds of damage for you and your partner) or utility (stasis coating to slow down necros, ammo box to double your magazine size), both are equally deadly, utility arguably more so because the stasis coating means it applies a small amount of stasis to every shot, which means you can effectively render immobile every enemy in the game with those potential 60+ shots of your forcegun (sans the nexus and brother moon). Shreds any and all necromorphs with a quick burst of the chaingun, you don't even need to aim, just point it at their direction and tap RT. The absolute most powerful weapon in dead space 3 is without a doubt the Chaingun+Forcegun combo, no other weapon combination in the game matches it in terms of power, speed and versatility, even without chip upgrades and using only basic parts it beats the hell out of any other weapon with MK V parts and +3/+3 chips, sure the Rocket Launcher has splash damage to deal with mobs and the Chain Lightning has technically the highest DPS in the game, also has splash damage (electricity spreads to nearby enemies with a direct hit) and can be quite fast with RoF chips, but the splash damage of the Rocket Launcher can damage AND knock you down (so you absolutely need to waste an attachment slot on the safety guard), and the Chain Lightning has an horrid reticle (a tiny white dot, it wouldn't be a problem if it wasn't a single shot sniper weapon) and is downright unusable without +3 RoF/+3 DMG chips on all slots (without those it's either too weak to kill things in one shot or too slow to adequately deal with all the fast necros in the game), both weapons also suffer from low ammo capacity because they're considered "power" weapons, the rocket launcher also only really works as a secondary weapon.
